The state of New South Wales in Australia is now known to have made a landmark action against a group of foreign students. NSW’s University of New England has decided to cancel the master’s degrees awarded to about 210 international students from 2004 to 2006.

NSW has been one of the havens for international students. That is because the universities in the Australian state provide quality teaching and research opportunities, with their reputation in providing quality education amongst the best. Thus, many foreign students, mostly from Asian countries, flock into the state to get their degrees no matter how expensive it could get. But now, many people are reviewing whether such students come to study at NSW because of the quality of education or because of convenience.

After considering the reputation of the University of your choice, the second most important consideration you should do when selecting US universities as a foreign student is the academic institution’s location. You may look at the simple geographical site of the university.

Ideally, you should choose universities that are very near or proximate to major US cities. Such universities will be more convenient. If you aim to stay in a dormitory on campus, make sure it will not take long to get to the nearest convenience store or other basic commercial sites. If the university’s location is not ideal, do not risk going there. Go back to square one and find another university.
