“Do you know where I found him? Do you know where he was?
He was eating a cake in the tub! Yes he was!….”

-Dr. Suess, The Cat in the Hat Comes Back

There are 2 kinds of people: those who eat cake in the tub, and those who just, well, don’t. Which one are you? Which one do you think is the best at creating the happy life they want?

Do you know where I found him?
Do you know where he was?
He was eating a cake in the tub!
Yes he was!
The hot water was on
And the cold water, too.
And I said to the cat,
“What a bad thing to do!”

“But I like to eat cake in
a tub,” laughed the cat.
“You should try it some time, “
Laughed the cat as he sat.

-Dr. Suess, The Cat in the Hat Comes Back

There are 2 kinds of people: those who eat cake in the tub, and those who just, well, don’t. Which one do you think is the best at creating the happy life they want?

It’s the one who’s able to go against the norm, who does what he wants without any heed to what friends, family, or society thinks, and who enjoys himself immensely in the process. Are you a tub-sitting cake-eater? Are you willing to see possibility where nobody else can? Are you willing to desire something even though everyone around you thinks it’s a crazy desire, an impossible desire, a “wrong” desire? Are you able to believe in it nonetheless, and bring it into your reality like Mr. Cat here? Good for you.

But what about the other character in this little story. He’s appalled by the idea of eating cake in the tub. He is obviously quite upset by seeing someone else doing so and I think we could make a pretty accurate assumption that eating cake in the tub is not one of his current intentions! But if it isn’t one of his intentions, what’s the big deal? He’s working on different goals altogether. So if you identify more with this one than with Mr. Cat, so what. Right? Wrong.

If you can’t stand the idea of someone else doing something that you don’t think is right, or is good, then you are not allowing them the right to have their intentions. You are judging what they desire to have. You are, in effect, saying they shouldn’t be allowed to have it. It shouldn’t be allowed to exist. “Eating cake in the tub should be banned!” you shout. Substitute that with whatever you disagree with: “War is wrong! Abortion is wrong! Big business is wrong!” On and on and on. You feel threatened by these things and fear they may somehow interfere with the world you desire to live in. But here is the key: what you resist persists. In your objection to it you only create more of it. Whatever you focus your attention on grows by way of univeral law, whether it is something you want or something you don’t want. That is the first problem with judging anything you see happening on this Earth.

The second problem with not being an allower is this: By not allowing others to have their intentions through your judgment, you aren’t allowing your own intentions either. You are operating out of a place of lack and limitation. You are saying there should be less choice in the world rather than an abundance of choices. You are saying there should only be one kind of world, rather than infinite worlds. And so, by wanting to limit this supply you limit not only others but yourself as well.

There are as many worlds on this planet as there are people. We are not here to build one world. We are each here to build our own world. And when we allow this, we can stop worrying about any of those other worlds, any of those other realities, interfering with our own.

The result of being an intender AND an allower is beautiful. You become joyful all the time. You manifest your desires easily and you only experience what you want and none of what you don’t want. You become one of the universe expanders who by, in the successful creating of your unique world, adds that world to the infiinite supply of possibility. Most importantly, you become the cat who desired to eat cake in the tub, and who did so.
