Guess who is the lady. Even you are very smart, I am certain you do not know the answer. So, let me tell you.
She is a princess lived 2200 years ago. In fact, she is the wife of a Prime Minister. The lady has been sleeping for thousands year since186 B.C. Her body kept very well for ten times longer than US history. Even she slept for so long, her body was still rather soft. Muscles possessed resilience. Blood vessels swelled as injected with preservative. Internal organs were basically preserved intact.
The Japanese Prime Minister was very interested in the discovery. So, the Chinese Premier ordered Chinese Academy of Sciences to find the answer as an urgent project at the national level before Japanese Prime Minister comes to sign a peace agreement between two countries.
Perhaps people considered me as a good scientist with broad combination knowledge, a group of archaeologists and I was appointed to handle the project. Many friends were breathless with anxiety to watch me, since during the culture revolution I might be in serious troubles if I could not find the reasonable answer in time. I worked day and night and tried every thing called to mind in areas of chemistry, biochemistry, enzymology, environmental, and microbiology. Finally, I finished a paper before the deadline. The title of paper is:
“Preservation and Bacteriostasis effect of the inner-coffin fluid in the Western Han Tomb No. 1 at Ma-Wang-Dui on non-decayed woman who died 2200 years ago.” Ren T. Tang, Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica, 11(3): 291-2, 1979.
According to my study, the reason for preserving her body so well is that, simply in one word, besides the tomb was sealed very well, she was immersed in the inner-coffin fluid that contains 3 PPM of extremely poison mercurous chloride (HgCl). And the later is the major factor to inhibit microbial and enzymic activities that causing decayed. This might be the earliest and successful preservation technique in the world to keep human body so well in wet environment for so long.
I am sure she did not have any camera at that time. However, a specialist made her only photo this year. The picture was made based on her face, that is still kept rather well, and the x-ray film of her skull, plus some historical records. This technique has been successfully applied in many areas, such as “American most wanted.” Therefore, people believe that the photo is rather closed to such an ancient beauty’s face.
Many American ask her to visit here. Unfortunately, her body is too delicate that I am afraid she would prefer staying home but welcome you to visit her.
